Canyon Complex Fire Emergency Area Closure
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), and to promote public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Canyon Complex Fire Closure Area of the Plumas National Forest. This Order is effective from August 27th, 2008, until the Canyon Complex Fire is fully suppressed.
- Going into or being upon National Forest System lands within the Canyon Complex Fire Closure Area. The Canyon Complex Fire Closure Area is described below and shown on Exhibit A. 36 CFR 261.52(e).
The Canyon Complex Fire Closure Area begins at the intersection of the boundary of the Plumas National Forest and Forest Road No. 22N25, then continues north along the Forest Road No. 22N25 to its intersection with Forest Road No. 22N02X, then continues northeast along Forest Road No. 22N02X to its intersection with Forest Road No 22N94, then continues northeast along Forest Road No. 22N94 to its intersection with the east section line of Section 18, Township 22 North, Range 8 East, then continues north along the section line to the northeast corner of Section 7, then continues west along the section line to the northwest corner of Section 7, then continues north along the section line to the northeast corner of Section 1, Township 22 North, Range 7 East, to its intersection with Forest Road No. 23N75, then continues north along Forest Road No. 23N75 to its intersection with Forest Road No. 23N60, then continues southwest along Forest Road No. 23N60 to its intersection with Forest Road No. 23N57X, then continues north along Forest Road No. 23N57X to its intersection with Forest Road No. 23N15, then continues south along Forest Road No. 23N15 to its intersection with Forest Road No.22N30, then continues northwest along Forest Road No. 22N30 to its intersection with Forest Road No. 23N60, then continues south along Forest Road No. 23N60 to its intersection with Forest Road No. 23N15, then continues north along Forest Road No. 23N15 to its intersection with Forest Road No. 23N60, then continues southeast along Forest Road No. 23N60 to its intersection with the east section line of Section 23, Township 22 North, Range 6 East, then continues south along the section line to its intersection with the east section line of Section 26, Township 22 North, Range 6 East, then continues south along the section line to its intersection with the Feather Falls Scenic Area boundary, then continues southwest along the Feather Falls Scenic Area boundary to its intersection with Forest Road No. 21N27Y, then continues southwest along Forest Road No. 21N27Y to its intersection with Forest Road No. 21N51Y, then continues west along Forest Road No. 21N51Y to its intersection with Butte County Road No. 44605A, then continues south along Butte County Road No. 44605A to its intersection with the boundary of the Plumas National Forest, then continues east along the boundary of the Plumas National Forest to the starting point, as shown on Exhibit A.
- Being on any National Forest System road within the Canyon Complex Fire Closure Area, as shown on Exhibit A. 36 CFR 261.54(e).
- Being on any National Forest System trail within the Canyon Complex Fire Closure Area, as shown on Exhibit A. 36 CFR 261.55(a).
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
- Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.
- Owners or lessees of private land in the Canyon Complex Fire Closure Area to the extent necessary to gain access to their land.
- Persons who reside on private land in the Canyon Complex Fire Closure Area to the extent necessary to gain access to their residences.
- Any Federal, State, or local officer or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions found in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both.
