Plumas National Forest
Canyon Complex Fire Emergency Trail Closure
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (b), and to promote public safety, the following act is prohibited on the Plumas National Forest. This Order is effective from August 14th, 2008, until the Canyon Complex Fire is fully suppressed.
Being on the Pacific Crest Trail starting at its intersection with the Plumas National Forest boundary (Township 25 North, Range 6 East, Section 15, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian), then continuing southeast to its intersection with California State Highway 70 (Township 25 North, Range 6 East, Section 23), as shown on Exhibit A.
36 CFR 261.55(a).
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
- Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.
- Any Federal, State, or local officer or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
This prohibition is in addition to the general prohibitions found in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

A violation of this prohibition is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. 16 USC 551 and 18 USC 3559, 3571, and 3581.
This Order supersedes Order No. 05-08, dated July 4th, 2008.
