EMERGENCY CLOSURE ORDER LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), and to protect public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Los Padres National Forest. This order is effective from 5:00 p.m. on June 11,2008, until the Indians Fire has been fully controlled.

1. Going into or being upon National Forest System lands within the Indians Fire Closure Area. The Indians Fire Closure Area begins at the point where the Los Padres National Forest boundary crosses Arroyo Seco Road, then east and south along the boundary of the Los Padres National Forest to its intersection with Nacimiento Fergusson Road (County Road No. 4004), then west along the north side of Nacimiento Fergusson Road to its intersection with the Central Coast Ridge Road (Forest Road No. 20S05), then north along the north side of Central Coast Ridge Road to its intersection with the North Coast Ridge Trail (Forest Trail No. 3ElO), then north along the west side of the North Coast Ridge Trail to its intersection with the Marble Peak Trail (Forest Trail No. 4E07), then east along the north side of Marble Peak Trail to its intersection with the Arroyo Seco/Indians Road (County Road No. 3050), then north along the Arroyo Seco Road to the Arroyo Seco Gorge Parking lot within the Arroyo Seco Recreation Area, as shown on the attached Indians Fire Closure Area Map. 36 CFR 261.52(e).

2. Being on any National Forest System road within the Indians Fire Closure Area.

3. Being on any National Forest System trail within the Indians Fire Closure Area.

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50( e), the following persons are exempt from this order:

1. Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically authorizing the otherwise

prohibited act or omission.

2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting

force in the performance of an official duty.

3. Owners or lessees of land in the Indians Fire Closure Area are exempt from the

prohibitions listed above to the extent necessary to gain access to their land.

4. Persons who reside in the Indians Fire Closure Area are exempt from the prohibitions

listed above to the extent necessary to gain access to their residences.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261,

Subpart A.



A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both. 16 use 551 and 18 use 3559, 3571, and 3581
