Backcountry Campfire Ban in Olympic National Park

Incident: Heatwave Complex Wildfire
Released: 8/3/2009

Effective August 3, campfires are prohibited in the park, except for campfires in permanent fire grates in the park's established frontcountry (road accessible) campgrounds and below the high tide line on the coast. Exception- between Wedding Rocks and Yellow Banks where a year round fire ban is in effect. Portable gas stoves are permitted.
