It is important to remember that fire managers use fire at the right time, in the right place for the right reasons while always ensuring that the public and firefighters are safe. Also every prescribed burn is implemented under very specific conditions that are identified within in a detailed project burn plan.
The ideal conditions to meet the objective's of the La Sotella prescribed burn require higher temperatures, low humidity levels and some wind in order for fire to carry within the pinion and juniper that is in the project area. The objectives of the La Sotella burn are to improve forage quality and quantity for wildlife.
