AREA CLOSURE REDUCED AROUND GUNBARREL FIRE

Cody, Wyo. September 3, 2008 - The closure around the Gunbarrel Fire was reduced September 2, 2008.

The reopened areas of the Clarks Fork Ranger District include the Dead Indian drainage and areas south of the Chief Joseph Highway (State Hwy 296). Areas reopened on the Wapiti Ranger District are east of Pat Ohara Mountain and south to the divide between Rattlesnake Creek and Robbers Roost Creek. " As we get more moisture and determine other areas are safe, we will be lifting more of the closure," said Clint Dawson, District Fire Management Officer.

Maps of the closure area are available at the Shoshone National Forest offices in Cody or from the Shoshone's web site at http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/shoshone/.

For more information, contact the Wapiti Ranger District at 307-527-6921.
