Incident: Burroughs Wildfire
Dubois, Wyo. (August 30, 2013) – The Burrough Fire was discovered Friday morning by a Forest Service employee on their way to their work site. The fire is burning on a ridge above Burroughs Creek 12 miles north of Dubois, Wyoming, in Upper Horse Creek Basin. The fire is believed to have started from a lightning strike from the night before. The fire is burning in a thick stand of standing dead and down trees. Multiple resources are engaged in suppressing the wildfire. Structure protection is in place at two guest ranches in the area.
- The fire size at 8:00 PM is 100 acres .
- Horse Creek Campground is under mandatory evacuation; all campers have exited this recreation site.
- Double Cabin Campground is under voluntary evacuation.
- US Forest Service Roads 510 (Burroughs Creek Loop) and 285 (Horse Creek Road) are closed. The Horse Creek Road is closed at its junction with Forest Service Road 511 (Brent Creek Road).
