SPRINGVILLE, CA – Containment of the Fish Fire on the Sequoia National Forest has increased to 75 percent and fire behavior is minimal. The remaining uncontrolled fire lines are located in steep rocky terrain on the northwest corner of the fire. As crews work to contain the last sections of uncontrolled fire lines other resources will be shuttled out of the fire area to be released home or to other incidents. Crews are expected to remain on the fire through this week.
Assistance was provided to a new fire, the Windy Fire, on the Tule River Indian Reservation yesterday afternoon south of the Fish Fire. Two hand crews and two helicopters were released to assist in suppressing the new fire.
A portion of the Golden Trout Wilderness remains closed to provide for public safety. More information on the area closure can be found at http://tinyurl.com/jwwlglr.
