Mt. Hood NF Announces 100% Containment on Government Flats Complex Fire
Incident: Government Flats Complex Wildfire
Sandy OR – The Government Flats Complex Fire was declared 100 % contained last night at 6:00 pm by Incident Commander Doug Currie. A transition from the Columbia-Cascade Type 3 Team led by Currie will transition to a Type 4 Team led by Incident Commander Andy Beam this Wednesday. The Type 4 team will continue to patrol the fire looking for hot spots and conducting fire suppression damage repair. The team of 5 Engines and a 20 person crew as well as miscellaneous equipment will remain at the fire area until Forest Service leadership and the Incident Commander are certain that potential hotspots are extinguished.
A Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) Team began their analysis this weekend and will submit their report next week. The Mt. Hood National Forest will be working cooperatively with the Natural Resource Conservation Service as areas burned by the fire are surveyed for potential impact to health and safety.
There is no change to the current closure in place for the fire area perimeter and roads and trail leading into the fire area. These will remain closed to protect the land water resources and the public from hazards associated with the fire.
This will be the last official press release related to the Government Flats Complex Fire. National Forest closure information can be obtained on the Mt. Hood NF website or by calling the Hood River or Barlow Ranger District offices.
