Closure Changes for Area Around Emigrant Fire
Incident: Miner Paradise Complex Wildfire
Miner Paradise Complex midday update for 8-31
This is the final update from the Eastern Montana Type II Incident Management Team.
Crews on the Miner Paradise Complex continue to chase hot spots along the southeast edge of the Emigrant Fire. A hot shot crew is constructing line in a bowl near Monitor Creek to ensure the fire doesn’t cross the creek as there has been light to moderate fire activity dominated by ground fire with isolated single tree and group torching. There is little to no visible smoke on the remainder of the fires but crews continue to mop up and check for hot spots on the Horsetail Fire. Air resources are patrolling as well.
McBrattney’s Type II IMT under Wally Bennett will assume command of the fires at 6 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1.
CLOSURES: As of noon Sunday, Sept. 1, the closure surrounding the Emigrant Fire will be reduced.
The new closure boundaries will be immediately north of Gold Prize Creek drainage along Emigrant Peak east to Arrastra and running along the west fork of Mill Creek. West Fork Mill Creek Road and trailhead are open. The area of Cedar Creek beyond the trailhead and around the historic OTO ranch remain closed.
Other areas of interest:
Thompson Lake – Open
Monitor Peak Trail – Closed
Knox Lake Trail – Open
Fish Lake Trail – Closed
All visitors should be aware closures are based on the fire and expected fire activity and are subject to change.
