Fire Containment Increases to 75%
Incident: Beaver Creek Fire Wildfire
The Beaver Creek fire is estimated at 111,163 acres with 75 percent containment. The number of personnel assigned to the fire is 1,179 as of Friday night, although the number will continue to significantly decrease overthe next few days as containment increases.Today, hotshot crews continued constructing handline from the northeastern corner of the 2007 Castle Rockfire, east along the ridge line toward the East Fork of Baker Creek road. Hand crews also continued to work atthe south side of Norton Creek where aerial ignition from Wednesday afternoon’s burnout crept down from theridge line to the East Fork of the Baker Creek road. The crews received aerial support from large helicoptersdelivering water drops as needed.Two hotshot crews on the southern perimeter of the fire cold trailed along the fire perimeter tying incontainment line along ridge lines above Kinsey Creek, Wolftone Gulch and over to Kelly Mountain. To Haileyarea residents, smoke will continue to be visible in this area until the heavy fuels burn out well into the interiorof the fire area.All mandatory evacuations and pre-evacuation alerts have been lifted.Command of the Beaver Creek Fire will be transferred to Marty Adell’s Type 2 Incident Management TeamSunday night. They will be supported with the appropriate amount of air and ground resources to contain thefire.Idaho big game hunting seasons are fast approaching with the first controlled hunt for Antelope beginning onAugust 30th. Hunters are reminded that area closures are in effect for the Forest Service and BLM managedlands in and around the fire area.
