Corral Complex September 10 AM Update
Incident: Corral Complex Wildfire
Incident: The Corral Complex was started by lightning on August 10 2013 and is burning within the 1999 Megram Fire and the 2009 Backbone Fire areas.
Location: Trinity Alps Wilderness
Agency Jurisdiction: Unified Command-USDA Forest Service and the Hoopa Valley Tribe.
Cooperating Agencies: Hoopa Valley Tribe Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Trinity County Sheriff’s Office Humboldt County DPW Humboldt County OES and Trinity County OES
Current Size: Complex is 12 295 Acres Cause: Lightning
Containment: 79% Structures Threatened: 0
Current Resources: Crews: 12 Engines: 7 Helicopters: 4 Dozers: 1
Total Personnel: 509
Current Situation: The fire still smolders within established containment lines as the weather continues to be hotter and drier. Rolling material is still a concern but most burning material that does roll out should not cause progression of the fire and will be well inside primary containment lines. Although the relative humidity last night was poor compared to previous evenings fire behavior is expected to be limited.
Smoke from several other fires including the Butler Fire (10 miles north) continue to be seen from the Hoopa Valley.
In addition to fire suppression activities firefighters continue to rehab spike camps and dozer lines to reduce erosion while returning affected wilderness areas back to natural conditions. Rehab activities include chipping slash piles constructing water bars on fire lines and backhauling excess equipment and trash.
The fire is scheduled to transition to a Type IV local forest organization on Thursday September 12th at 0600.
Road closures on the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation have been lifted.
Road Closures: Six Rivers National Forest issued an emergency fire road closure on August 30 2013 (Order No. 10-13-06) for all or part of the following: Forest roads 8N03 6N03 8N01.
Area & Trail Closures: For public safety and to ensure safe access for firefighters and equipment public access is restricted in the fire area. Shasta-Trinity National Forest issued a Forest Order to close the Corral Complex Area and all trails and roads within the area on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest effective September 5 2013.
