Incident: The Corral Complex was started by lightning on August 10, 2013 and is burning within the 1999 Megram Fire and the 2009 Backbone Fire areas.
Location: Trinity Alps Wilderness
Agency Jurisdiction: Unified Command-USDA Forest Service and Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation.
Cooperating Agencies: VFD’s, Humboldt Co. Sheriff’s Office
Current Size: Complex is 8,646 acres Cause: Lightning
Containment: 0% Structures Threatened: 1
Current Resources: Crews: 19 Engines: 5 Helicopters: 5 Dozers: 10
Total Personnel: 828
Observed Fire Activities: The fire remained active overnight in the heavier fuels above 4,000 ft. elevation. Heavier smoke was due to increase fire activity on the northwest and east potions of the fire.
Today: Crews and suppression resources will continue working all accessible areas of the fire. Fire suppression resources are working closely with Resource Advisors to protect cultural and natural resources.
Weather: RED FLAG WARNING For Lightning This Afternoon Through Thursday Evening. Dense smoke from yesterday’s fire activity and increasing cloud cover this afternoon will keep temperatures slightly depressed and humidity elevated today. Storms will move northwest after 4:00 p.m.
Evacuations: None currently in place. Road Closures: There are no road closures. Forest Service roads 7N26, 7N53, and 7N04 surrounding the Groves Prairie Spike Camp has restricted public access due to fire crew activity. Long delays may be expected. Situational Awareness while driving is encouraged due to increase in emergency vehicles accessing the fire area. BE SAFE!
Area & Trail Closures: For public safety and to ensure unimpeded access for firefighters and equipment, public access is restricted in the fire area
