Fire Update 8/14/13 Pm
Incident: Pony Complex Wildfire
Location: 12 miles Northeast of Mountain Home, ID
Assigned Resources: personnel
Evacuations: Residents in the Mayfield area have been allowed back into their homes. The road closures listed below still remain in effect for the general public.
Closures: : Blacks Creek Rd., Indian Creek Rd., Anderson Ranch Dam south on the Dixie Creek Cutoff to Hwy 20, Prairie Road/Cow Cr. Rd north from Hwy 20, Northbound Mayfield Rd from Mayfield.
Fire Situation: Today, fire behavior was active with fire running through grass, sage, and backing down hill through timber pockets. On the northern end, the fire jumped containment lines and burned 50 – 60 acres. Hotshot crews with the support of the MAFFS C-130 plane dropping retardant, were able to catch the fire once it reached the lighter fuels.
Numerous road closures are still in effect as the fire continues in the direction of Blacks Creek Road. Firefighters are still using the Blacks Creek road north towards the South Fork of the Boise River as a holding point for the fire if conditions remain cooperative.
The southern and western edges of the fire are still showing very little fire activity with the exception of one hot spot near Anderson Ranch Dam. Firefighters are currently mopping this up.
Crews will also continue with fire suppression repair activities along dozer lines.
