Incident: Salmon River Complex Wildfire
Southern California Interagency Incident Managenment Team 3 has taken command of the fire effetive 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Today’s Actions: Firefighters will mop up, patrol and hold the handlines today to reduce the threat of spot fires. Structure defense will continue around the community of Sawyers Bar, including daily sprinkler system maintenance and testing.
Fire Behavior: Rolling material as well as heavy fuels, steep terrain and snags continue to be concerns for firefighters as they patrol and hold the fire within existing containment lines. The fire will continue to back into the east side of Jackass Gulch. Pockets of brush and down trees are expected to continue to burn today throughout the fire area.
The Red Flag Warning will continue through 5 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, because of dry fuels and potential lightning.
Air Quality: Clean air respite centers are still available at the Happy Camp Community Resource Center, HUB Communities Resource Center in Montague, Scott Valley Family Resource Center in Fort Jones, Madrone Senior Center at the Yreka Community Center, Mt. Shasta Community Resource Center and Dorris City Hall.

Closure Order: Deer hunters are reminded a Forest Order is in effect around the Salmon River Complex and Butler Fire on the Klamath and Six Rivers National Forests. Please see http://tinyurl.com/lsbx7ne for the full closure order and associated map. Sawyers Bar Road remains closed to public traffic from Etna Summit to Forks of Salmon. Residents, with proof of residency, will be allowed through the closure. Residents may encounter one-way traffic control within the closure area. Salmon River Road remains closed west of Forks of Salmon.
Evacuations: An Evacuation Advisory remains in effect for all residents along the North Fork Salmon River from Kelly Gulch to Idlewild and Mule Bridge to the Marble Mountain Wilderness Boundary.
