Line Construction in White Valley Creek Drainage Begins
Incident: Lodgepole Wildfire
Yesterday, moderate to high fire intensity south of the upper portions of White Valley Creek were observed. The fire’s primary movement is to the northwest toward White Valley Mountain. The fire crossed into the Frank Church Wilderness at the Twin Peaks saddle and is creeping in sparse fuels. The Twin Peaks Lookout is not threatened.
Line construction in the White Valley Creek drainage began. Aviation resources were able to support ground resources so they could safely begin direct line construction. The tedious process of rehabbing dozer lines is an on-going process that is taking place with the assistance of the Forest Resource Advisor.
If the winds remain favorable, crews will continue constructing line in White Valley Creek, west along the northern fire perimeter, and progress toward the 2007 Shower Bath fire scar. Aviation resources will provide support to crews by dropping water and slinging equipment needed to establish pumps and hoselays.
A red flag warning for gusty winds, low relative humidity and a chance of dry thunderstorms is in effect today. Red flag warnings have been issued seven out of the ten past days.
