Current Size: Approximately 170 acres Containment: 55%
Resources Assigned: 3 Type I handcrews, 2 Type II handcrews, 1 Wildland Fire Module, 2 Air Attacks, 3 Helicopters. Total personnel assigned is 250.
Closures: Gold Creek Area Closure – Gold Creek Trailhead and West Fork Gold Creek Trailhead will be closed. The area closure extends to all areas west of Gold Creek Road, north of Trail #52 (Primm Lake Trail) and east of the Main Rattlesnake Recreation Corridor. Trail #504 (Porcupine Ridge Trail) is closed. Trail #52 and trails south of the Rattlesnake vicinity are open. The closure also borders Trail #515 accessing the headwaters of Rattlesnake Creek, this trail is open. Closure map located on InciWeb.
Forest Road #126 will remain closed at Cow Creek Gate (approx. 7 miles in), the West Fork of Gold Creek Trailhead (Rd #4323) at the junction of Rd #4323 and Rd #2103 is currently closed. This is approx. 6 miles to West Fork of Gold Creek Trailhead.
Current Status: On Monday crews continued to complete saw line and establish hose around the entire perimeter of the fire. Crews on the eastern flank of the fire in Divisions B and E continued to work the edge, extinguish spot fires, and secure the fire’s perimeter. Helicopters were utilized as needed to hold and secure the northeastern half of the fire.
Planned Actions: Crews will continue patrolling the western and southern flanks of the fire with mop-up operations continuing to wrap around the northern edge and working east. Crews in Divisions A and O will continue to seek and extinguish spot fires on the western edge of the fire. Around the northern flank, Division B will stay on course securing the perimeter and working east. Firefighters in Division E on the eastern flank will grid searching for smokes and mop-up. The eastern flank includes many unburned green islands and crews will continue to seek out, GPS, and extinguish spots fires found in the green.
Weather: Tuesday temperatures are forecast in the low 80s, relative humidity keeping to 15% or less. Light winds are forecasted.
