Today’s weather calls for partly cloudy until noon; then mostly cloudy. A slight chance of showers and thunder-
storms after 9:00 a.m. until 1200; then a possible chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Temperatures will be in the high 70’s to mid-80’s. Relative humidity above 7500 feet - 40 to 45% and below 7500 feet - 30 to 35%.
The Silver Fire has received moderate precipitation. Visible smoke within the fire perimeter will diminish as more rain is received. Crews will continue working around the Diamond Bar Ranch and McKnight cabin.
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) has been temporarily closing NM 152 east of Silver City when flood waters exist. Please take precaution when traveling that area. FR150 has become slick and wet.
Caution is advised around low water crossings. Use extreme caution and drive slowly, as they are subject to flash flooding; especially downstream from the Silver Fire
Traffic notifications will be posted on www.nmroads.com, and can be retrieved by calling 511 in state, and 1-800-432-4269 out of state. Please avoid any travel within this area until conditions change.
Forest Closures: NM 159 (Bursum Road) has been closed by NMDOT due to flooding.
Fire and Smoking Restrictions
Stage 1 Fire restrictions have been lifted. There are no restrictions on the Gila National Forest.
