Agner’s Type 3 Incident Management Team assumed command of the Silver Fire this morning at 6:00 a.m. The Incident Command Post will be moved from the San Lorenzo Elementary school to the Wilderness Ranger District at 10:00 a.m. today.
Today’s Planned Actions: Ongoing downsizing of personnel continue, as well as rehab where it is feasible. Crew will continue to monitor the perimeter for hotspots. Chipping continues along FS road 150 and Highway 152.
Fire Activity: No fire spread is expected, although a drying trend is forecasted in the next few days, limited fire spread is expected mainly isolated along the northern perimeter if any spread at all.
Todays Weather: Partly cloudy and thunderstorms in the evening then isolated showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Maximum temperature between 79 and 84º.
Open/Closed Areas: FS Road 150 is now open, high clearance vehicles are recommended. NM Highway 152 is open. Safety is still a concern and drivers should be alert for domestic livestock, wildlife, rocks, fallen trees and debris along the road. For road information go to www.nmroads.com. An emergency closure remains in effect for a small portion of the Gila National Forest in the vicinity of the fire area.
