Saturday Afternoon Update
Incident: Moquah Blocks F and J Prescribed Fire
Smoky conditions at the fire site were limiting the effectiveness of the helicopter and it was released back to its homebase on the Superior National Forest after a job well done. Block J is approximately two-thirds done and the ground igniters will continue to light along the perimeter in the eastern portion of the unit. The fire is throwing up a considerable smoke column today due to less complete combustion, the path of the smoke is just west of the Town of Port Wing where it is at a high elevation and rapidly dissapating.
