Prescribed Burn on Hold Until Weather Improves
Incident: Red Cedar Reduction Prescribed Fire
Chickasaw National Recreation Area started a series of prescribed burns on February 1, 2013. Approximately 550 acres have been treated with prescribed fire in the Five Lakes area so far. Due to increased moisture, additional plans to burn are on hold for now. Fire managers still have plans to burn approximately 2,450 additional acres in the Five Lakes, Hunting, Golf Course, Point and South Boundary areas of the park this spring if environmental conditions are favorable.
