Red Cedar Reduction Announcement

Prescribed Burning to Continue in Five Lakes Area Feb 2

Incident: Red Cedar Reduction Prescribed Fire
Released: 2/1/2013

Fire managers completed a test burn in the Five Lakes area the evening of February 1, but decided not to continue ignitions for the evening because high relative humidities and low temperatures did not result in desired effects. Fire managers plan to continue with ignitions February 2 in the Five Lakes area if conditions are favorable. The prescribed burn is planned to begin at approximately 4pm and continue until approximately 9pm. An estimated 400 acres may be treated. Predicted winds from the north on Saturday may move smoke to the south.
