The Wesley Fire has grown to 16,010 acres with 50% containment. The fire area has received significant precipitation and more rain is forecasted. The northwest portion of the fire is still burning in the Lake Fork Creek and Rapid River drainages. This area will continue to smolder but very little fire spread is expected. The northwest quarter of the fire is unstaffed by fire crews due to steep, remote, hazardous topography and will be monitored if fuels begin to dry. Good containment lines are established on the east and south ends of the fire.
The Fire Area Closure Order has been lifted. Please use caution if entering the fire area. Potential hazards include falling trees, rolling rocks and debris, and occasional flare ups if fuels dry out. Forest visitors may continue to see smoke from burning logs and duff over the next several days; little to no fire spread is expected. An updated map of the fire perimeter can be found on inciweb.org.
This will be the last update unless there is significant change in fire behavior.
For updated fire information and maps go to inciweb.org or call the Payette National Forest Public Affairs Officer at 208-634-0784.
