Fire officials would like to update visitors and recreationists such as Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) users, hunters, and campers about road and area closures in the vicinity of the Bagley Fire which is located west of Big Bend, CA and south of the McCloud Reservoir on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest and private land.

Effective October 4, 2012, there is an amendment to the previous Bagley Fire closure area. The order is amended to allow public access to part of the Bagley Fire Emergency Closure Area. Road No. 38N53, Ah-Di-Na Campground, Road No. 38N11 to Ash Camp, Ash Camp, the Pacific Crest and Squaw Valley Trails will be opened.

The legal description will be amended as follows:

"Along the section lines to its intersection with the south riverbank of the McCloud River, then continues along the south riverbank to the confluence with Hawkins Creek, then continues east to intersection of Forest Road No. 38N11and the north section line of Section 35, just south of the crossing of the Pacific Crest trail, then continues southerly along Forest Road No. 38N11."

The legal description will also be amended as follows:

"Forest Road No. 38N36 is closed beginning at the intersection with Forest Road No. 38N53 and includes Forest Road Numbers 38N36A, 38N84, 38N84A and 38N84B."

Everything else located within the Bagley Fire closure remains closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. In particular, Fender's Ferry Road (also listed as Forest Service Road 34N17 or Road 27) from Forest Service Road 35N56 to Forest Service Road 35N46 and Road 11 from just beyond Hawkins Landing (which has been reopened to the public) to Ash Campground will remain closed. The closure area will remain in effect until it has been determined by fire officials that the area is safe for public entry and Forest Order (No. 14-12-02) has been rescinded.

There has been considerable interest expressed by the public to cut firewood in this area. Until it is determined safe for public access, firewood permits for the area will not be issued.
