New Fire Along The Crest on The Willamette National Forest
Incident: Buckhead Complex Wildfire
NEW FIRE ALONG THE CREST ON THE WILLAMETTE NATIONAL FOREST
The Buckhead Complex was assigned a new fire Wednesday afternoon. The new fire is the "Bobby Fire". It was initially reported by an aerial fire detection flight today at 4:20 PM. The fire is located east of Waldo Lake and just west of Bobby Lake on the Willamette National Forest along the crest. Two helicopters with buckets were dispatched from the Buckhead Complex to carry out suppression efforts on the fire. It was joined by a third helicopter. The three used water bucket drops to slow the spread and were very effective. As darkness settled in over the fire it was estimated to be about 15 acres. Thursday a team of repellers will be dropped into the fire area just after sun rise. As the ground crews arrive they will walk in and together begin full suppression efforts.
