Bear Cub Fire Discovered in the Teton Wilderness
Moran, Wyo. - The 300-acre Bear Cub Fire was discovered around 3:00 in the afternoon on July 3, approximately 27-miles east of Moran, Wyoming in Fremont County.
The fire is burning in dead and fallen timber and there are no structures threatened and no closure at this time. There was lightning in the area over the last 48-hours, which is the presumed cause of this fire.
The fire had produced a very visible column of smoke by 3:30 in the afternoon and is crowning in the treetops. Crown fires are defined as fires that move through the canopy of trees instead of burning along the ground. Crown fires are extremely dangerous and very difficult to fight.
The fire danger rating for the Bridger - Teton is Very High and partial fire restrictions are in effect for the entire Forest. For more information, visit http://www.tetonfires.com/
