HILTON FIRE February 14, 2012 5:00 p.m. FINAL

Location:

· Empire Mountains east of Highway 83, in the vicinity of Hilton Ranch Road, south of Vail, Arizona

· Public land administered by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and private land

Size: 460 acres, with approximately 60 acres on BLM public lands and the remainder on private lands

Start Date: February 11, 2012

Cause: Human caused on private land, under investigation

Percent Contained: 100% contained as of 1600 (4:00 p.m.) today, 100% control anticipated for tomorrow

Resources Assigned: Approximately 30 people including:

· Joint command headed by the BLM and Arizona State Forestry Division, which is responsible for suppression efforts on private lands

· Two BLM engines

· One Arizona State Forestry Division 20-person hand crews

· Miscellaneous overhead (support personnel)

Summary: The fire received precipitation today in the form of hail and snow; by 2:00 p.m., the ground was white with a layer of snow. The BLM thanks the Arizona State Forestry Division, Coronado National Forest, and local fire departments for their support.
