Mop-Up Continues on West Riverside Fire

Incident: West Riverside Wildfire
Released: 9/7/2011

About 100 firefighters continue to mop-up and reinforce firelines on the West Riverside Fire. They include three Type2 crews and the Lolo Hotshots. Efforts are focused on mopping up hot spots, working from the perimeter inward to reinforce fire lines. There is still some active burning on the West Riverside fire, particularly in a section of Forest Service land that is well within the fire perimeter. Still, the fire and subsequent smoke are readily visible from Highway 200. Some areas within the fire perimeter will likely continue to burn until signficant precipitation extinguishes them.
