BULLARDS FIRE UPDATE

Camptonville, CA...Yesterday evening at 6:00pm, fire managers declared the Bullards Fire 100% contained. Firefighters continue to mop-up all hot spots 300 feet in from the fire perimeter and pull hose from the secured fire containment lines. Management objectives include identifying fire suppression repair work and implementing the fire suppression repair plan. Significant demobilization of firefighting resources continues.

All evacuations and road closures have been lifted. The public is encouraged to use caution when traveling through the fire area, as firefighters, utility crews, and large equipment operators may be working on or near the highway and side roads. Bullards Bar recreation areas and campgrounds are also open.

Thursday morning, September 2, NorCal Team II will transition the management of the fire to a local organization. This organization will continue to operate under Unified Command with the Forest Service and CAL FIRE to complete the fire suppression repair plan.

Injuries: 1 (broken foot)

Incident Cooperators: Forest Service, CAL FIRE, Yuba County Sheriff's Department, CHP, PG&E, CA Department of Corrections, CA Conservation Corps-Placer Center, private contractors, and local fire agencies including North San Juan, Dobbins-Oregon House, Camptonville, Nevada County Consolidated, Grass Valley, Penn Valley, and Linda Fire.

The fire began Friday afternoon, August 27, and is burning in Yuba County south of Bullards Bar Reservoir on both sides of the North Yuba River on the Tahoe and Plumas National Forests. The cause remains under investigation.

NOTICE TO AREA RESIDENTS: Fire managers would like to thank all the residents who were impacted by the Bullards Fire and appreciate their patience while fire crews worked hard to suppress the fire to make the area safe. They also appreciate the assistance the incident received from all the cooperating agencies.

NOTE: The Fire Information Center will continue to be located at the Tahoe National Forest Headquarters, 631 Coyote St, Nevada City, (530) 478-6101. The Ranger District Office at Camptonville will be open and available for local information.
