THIS WILL BE THE LAST DAILY UPDATE FOR THE DAVIS FIRE

Thursday's Activities: Fire fighting crews continued gridding for hot spots within 120 feet of the fire perimeter, mopping up, and rehabbing disturbed areas where appropriate. Excess equipment, no longer needed on the fireline, was transported back to fire camp.

Friday's Strategy: The fire will be managed until it is declared inactive. A smaller incident management team will assume management of the incident at 6:00 a.m. on Friday. Jess Secrest's Type 2 team will demobilize off the fire on Friday. Two 20-person crews and five wildfire engines will continue mopping up and patrolling the fire perimeter. A helicopter will continue to support fire suppression efforts. Expect to see smoke within the fire's interior as islands of unburned fuel continue to burn.

The Incident command post and fire camp, located north of Canyon Creek on Hwy 279, will be dismantled by Friday afternoon.

Friday's Weather Forecast: Warmer, drier weather starting Friday should make for a pleasant weekend. A cooler weather pattern is expected to move into the area latter Sunday.

Road Closures: The Fool Hen Road, FSR #1848 from milepost 0.0 to 3.72 (Stemple Pass Road to Gould Creek Road) is still closed to public traffic. Motorists are urged to use caution surrounding the fire vicinity due to fire suppression traffic.
