KEY EVENTS
- The National Incident Management Organization (Incident Commander Tom Cable) assumed command of the View Lake Complex today at 6:00 am.
- Firefighter Steven Zaeth of the Warm Springs Interagency Hotshot Crew sustained injuries from a falling rock Saturday evening. He was transported to Legacy Emmanuel Medical Center in Portland where, this morning, he is reported in serious condition.
Firefighters working on the Pyramid Butte, View Lake and other small fires in the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness and near the Warm Springs Reservation are removing hose and fixing damage caused during suppression. Crews will likely complete much of their assigned work today and the fires will be patrolled and monitored. On the Bull of the Woods Fire, firefighters and heavy machinery called "Masticators" continue their work south, east and north of the fire clearing brush along forest road 6370. As work is completed, crews will begin heading home or on to other incidents.
The public should expect that most of the fires in the complex will likely continue to smoke on sunny, warm days until it snows. Motorists are asked to be cautious along all roads in the fire area due to holiday and hunting traffic, and fire equipment.
