Current situation: Firefighters continued line construction operations today and made good progress. Throughout the day, interior, unburned vegetation was consumed and produced some smoke columns but no fire spread was noted to the perimeter of the fire. Aircraft made multiple water drops and transported firefighters to the fire's edge throughout the day to complete containment lines. Temperatures remained cool and the wind was mild during the day. Mop-up of the fire will occur this evening to secure and hold the fireline. Full containment of the fire has been moved back to Saturday, October 10, due to accessing difficult terrain on the southwest edge of the fire.

Evacuations, Closures and Road Status: Highway 2 has been reopened and the evacuation order for the community of Wrightwood has been lifted. Both evacuation centers in Victorville and Rialto have been closed as residents have returned home. Lone Pine Road will remain closed until further notice. Lytle Creek Road remains closed to the public but open to residents. The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is also closed from Interstate 15 to the 14 freeway. Thru hikers on the PCT may use state highway 138 as an alternate route.

As of this evening the fire operations are no longer in unified command.
