Twin Fire Update - 8:30 PM

Incident: Twin Fire Wildfire

Williams, AZ - October 7, 2009. 8:00 p.m. Rain and sleet fell today on the Twin Fire, located one mile southwest of the City of Williams. The 908-acre fire is 90 percent contained. Today, operations included patrolling the fire perimeter and mopping up. With the increased containment, management of the incident transitions to a smaller organization on Thursday.

The forecast calls for cloudy skies and a slight chance of rain showers. Sunny conditions are predicted to return to the area by the end of the week.

"The Southwest Incident Management Team would like to thank the Community of Williams for your support during the Twin Fire," said Bill Van Bruggen, Incident Commander.

Closures:

The emergency closure for Bill Williams Mountain will be lifted Thursday at noon.

Kaibab Lake Recreation Area remains closed.

This will be the last evening update for the Twin Fire.
