Silver Fire Update

Incident: Silver Fire Wildfire

Current Fire Situation: The Silver Fire is 100% contained. Residents may see occasional flare-ups and lingering smoke within the interior of the fire are. Firefighters will continue to mop-up and patrol the fire perimeter.

The Silver Fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain southeast of Silver Lake near the small community of Meadow Valley, approximately 10 miles west of Quincy on the Plumas National Forest in northeastern California.

On the morning of September 24, command of the fire will be transitioned from NorCal Incident Management Team 1 back to the Plumas National Forest. The transition was delayed by a day.

Hot dry weather continues through today. Residents and visitors are asked to be extra careful, especially with anything that involves machinery, open flame or sparks around dry vegetation.

Information on how to make your home for defendable may be found on the Plumas County Fire Safe Council's website at: www.plumasfiresafe.org. Brochures are available at local fire departments.

Campgrounds and road closures: The forest has issued a closure order for Forest Road 24N29X (Silver Lake Rd.) from the Bucks Lake Road (Co. Road 119) intersection west to the Silver Lake Campground and the 24N30 road from the gravel pit (Spanish Ranch Rd.) west to Silver Lake Campground. The Silver Lake Campground remains closed.
