Special Release
With the immediate threat to homes reduced, evacuated residents in the city of Mosier in Wasco County are cautiously being allowed to return to their homes.
The reduced threat to homes and other structures is allowing deployed structural task forces and the OSFM Green Incident Management Team to begin demobilizing. The Oregon State Fire Marshals office sent 129 personnel, 17 engines, 14 water tenders, 3 brush rigs, and 9 other command vehicles to help protect structures in the city of Mosier. Prior to the arrival of task forces, three residences and a barn were lost to the fire. To date, more than 150 structures were triaged, prepared, and protected during this incident.
Demobilizing tonight are task forces from Clackamas and Marion Counties, and the Clatsop County Strike Team. As the situation improves more task forces may be demobilized later tonight.
Returning residents are reminded to be aware of potential dangerous flare-ups, snags, and hazardous trees. Tips about returning home after a wildfire may be found at After the Wildfire...http://egov.oregon.gov/OSP/SFM/docs/Comm Ed/WUI/After a wildfire.doc
