For 08-29-09
Oregon State Fire Marshals Office and Oregon Department Of Forestry incident commanders have agreed to have Pacific Power and Light restore power to the city of Mosier at 1:30 pm. The citizens of Mosier that were displaced by the Microwave Fire will be allowed back into there homes at 3:00pm this afternoon. However, the fire managers feel that the threat of smoke is still significant. Structural resources will remain on scene as a precaution due to flare-ups and severe smoke as burn out operations continue.
When residents return home they should find their power restored. If it is not, they can call PP&L Dispatch at 888-221-7070.
Over 600 firefighters from across the state are working diligently in steep, rocky terrain to coral the 1,000 acre fire. Two outbuildings and one residence were destroyed by the fire.
The State Historic Columbia River Highway Trail and the Hatfield east and west trail heads remain closed. For current road information, log onto www.tripcheck.com.
Other cooperators include Oregon State Police, Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area of the U.S. Forest Service, Oregon State Parks, Oregon Department of Transportation, Pacific Power and Line, Union Pacific Railroad, the Red Cross and Rural Fire Districts.
