Santa Lucia Ranger District - Emergency Fire Area Closure Expanded
GOLETA, CA...Due to the fire emergency, effective August 19, the Forest Service is expanding the closure area of forest lands surrounding the La Brea Fire. The expanded emergency closure prohibits public entry to all national forest lands, trails, roads and recreation sites within the closure area specified below. The closure applies only to national forest lands and does not affect private lands within the national forest boundary. The closure will be in effect until further notice.
Specifically, the expanded La Brea Fire Closure Area includes the following loop (shown on attached map):
- beginning three miles north of Pine Canyon Fire Station on State Highway 166 at its intersection with the boundary of the Los Padres National Forest;
- then continues northeasterly along State Highway 166 to its intersection with the boundary of the Los Padres National Forest,
- then continues southeasterly along the boundary of the Los Padres National Forest to its intersection with State Highway 33;
- then continues south along the west side of State Highway 33 to its intersection with the Potrero Seco Road (Forest Road No. 6N03);
- then continues west along the south side of Potrero Seco Road to the ridgeline in Section 4, T. 6 N., R. 24 W., San Bernardino Meridian (the boundary between the Mt. Pinos Ranger District and the Santa Barbara Ranger District);
- then continues west along the boundary between the Mt. Pinos Ranger District and the Santa Barbara Ranger District to its intersection with the Big Pine Buckhorn Road (Forest Road No. 9N11);
- then continues west along the boundary between the Santa Lucia Ranger District and the Santa Barbara Ranger District to its intersection with Happy Canyon Road (Forest Road No. 7N07);
- then continues south along the east side of Happy Canyon Road (Forest Road No. 7N07) to its intersection with the boundary of the Los Padres National Forest;
- then continues north along the boundary of the Los Padres National Forest to the starting point, as shown on the attached La Brea Fire Closure Area Map.
