PER THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA - DEPARTMENT OF CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL NEWS RELEASE:

On Thursday, August 6, 2009 at approximately 10:00pm, the following road closures, which were in place as a result of the Sugarloaf and Brown fires, have been lifted:

SR-89 from SR-299 to SR-44 in Shasta County, is now open to all traffic.

SR-44 from SR-89, in Shasta County, to SR-36 in Lassen County is open to all traffic.

As of 10:00pm on Thursday, August 6, 2009, there are no active highway closures as a result of the Sugarloaf and Brown Fires.

The CHP would like to thank the public for their patience during these road closures. Motorists are advised to drive with extreme caution in these areas due to the fact there are still fire crews working in the area. Additionally, motorists should expect to see minor spot fires adjacent to the roadway and may encounter areas of smoke. CHP requests any hazardous conditions be reported to CHP dispatch at (530) 242-3210.
