Williams Creek Fire
Glide, OR - Firefighters are working to prepare for burnout operations when weather and fuel moisture conditions permit. Safety zones have been constructed and approved, fire hose has been laid out and charged with water and mop-up is continuing along the fire perimeter. Fire activity is expected to increase as the temperature continues to warm and humidity drops.
Snag and hazard tree removal and mop-up is continuing along the Pacific Corps power lines. Replacement power line poles will be installed with the use of Pacific Corps contracted helicopters today.
Traffic has resumed along Highway 138 and barriers have been placed along turn-outs to prevent parking and stopping in the fire area. Law enforcement personnel are present to manage traffic and control speeds. Increased traffic is expected on the weekend as recreationists take advantage of ideal summer weather.
