Road Closure Update, August 4, 2009
Due to the complex fire suppression operations on the Knight Wildland Fire, several roads and recreational areas are being affected as firefighters continue burn-out operations. Public and firefighter safety remain the highest priority!
Fire Officials are urging the public to assist in the fire fight by giving fire operations the safe space they need to keep up with the Knight Fire. Critical burn-out operations continue to help firefighters in suppression efforts.
The following roads have been temporarily closed:
1. Forest Road 4N01from its intersection with Forest Road 4N88 to its intersection with Forest Road 2N63 (Italian Bar County Road).
2. Forest Road 4N88 from its intersection with Forest Road 4N01 to its intersection with 4N85.
3. Forest Road 4N85 from its intersection with Forest Road 4N88 to its terminus at Sand Bar Flat Campground.
4. Forest Road 4N16 from its intersection with Forest Road 2N63 (Italian Bar Road) to its intersection with Forest Road 4N01.
5. Forest Road 4N17 from its intersection with Forest Road 2N63 (Italian Bar Road) to its intersection with Forest Road 4N16.
Crandall Peak Staging Area & Sand Bar Flat Campground WILL NOT BE ACCESSIBLE to the public. Crandall Staging is full of heavy equipment and hotshot crews. Sand Bar Flat Campground is also being used by fire operations. Access to these areas is closed at Spring Gap.
Please travel safely on Forest roads in the vicinity of the Knight Fire. Help our firefighters get this job done efficiently and safely. We truly need your help!
