Final Fire Update: The Tennant Fire is now one hundred percent contained. Firefighters have completed fire line all the way around the 3,225 acre fire perimeter and continue to patrol and extinguish hot spots within the line.
The Tennant Fire, which was ignited on Sunday July 19th grew to be the largest fire on the Goosenest Ranger District in over 30 years. The fire which was human caused, ignited along Highway 97 at around 3:00pm on Sunday afternoon. The fire investigation is ongoing.
Fire managers will continue to extinguish the fire within existing containment lines and accomplish fire suppression repair while minimizing damage to bald eagle nesting and winter roost habitat, historic and prehistoric resources, and riparian areas adjacent to Butte Creek.
Forest visitors are reminded that firefighters continue to work in the burned area. It may not be safe to enter the fire perimeter due to hot smoky conditions. Also pockets of unburned fuel continue to burn within containment lines and there are many standing dead trees.
Location: 7 miles south of Macdoel, California - west of Highway 97.
