Road, Trail and Area Closures on Steep Creek Fire

Loa, UT- Concerns for public safety in the vicinity of the Steep Creek Fire, burning 11 miles northeast of Boulder, Utah, have prompted the emergency temporary closures of roads, trails and areas associated with the fire.
The following are closed until further notice:
· Great Western Trail between Chriss Lake junction and the GWT on the west and Sunflower Flat access on the east. This includes the Deer Creek Lake Trail access to the GWT
· Trail #111, High Ranger Trail at Oak Creek Reservoir, to Oak Creek Campground
· Road #178 at the bottom of Pleasant Creek Meadow
· Road #554 at the Sunflower Flat and HWY 12 junction
Also closed is the area starting at Forest Road 178 at the bottom of Pleasant Creek Meadow extending southwest to Boulder Top rim, then west to the Great Western Trail at Chriss Lake Junction. The closure continues east on the north shore side of North Green Lake to Sunflower Flat and Hwy 12 junction, then north on Hwy 12 to the Salt Lick Drainage, and west, northwest on the south side of Oak Creek Reservoir back to starting point at bottom of Pleasant Creek Meadow.
Portions of the roads, trails and area affected by the closures are on Escalante Ranger District of the Dixie National Forest, and the Fremont River Ranger District of the Fishlake National Forest.
