Rex Creek Fire Voluntary Evacuation

The Railbelt Complex Type 2 Incident Management Team has recommended evacuation of the Windy Creek Subdivision, 13 miles southeast of Anderson. The Rex Creek Fire is burning on the east side of Rex Dome and has spread north, reaching the Totatlanika River Valley. Fire managers are concerned that easterly winds will cause the fire to spread west toward the mouth of Windy Creek drainage. In the event the fire reaches the mouth of the Windy Creek Drainage, structures within the drainage would be threatened. Residents are advised to leave the Windy Creek Subdivision and immediate vicinity in a safe and orderly manner. The Anderson School is designated as the evacuation center.

The Office of Emergency Services located in Healy Alaska can be reached at (907) 683-1330. Director Rusty Lasell is coordinating the evacuation with the Alaska State Troopers. The Alaska State Troopers based in Healy can be reached at (907) 683-2232, or in Nenana at (907) 832-5554.
