Six Rivers Takes Over the Backbone Fire

WILLOW CREEK, Calif. - The Backbone Fire is now 100% contained and totalled 6,324 acres. The National Incident Management Organization (NIMO) transitioned with a local Type 4 organization from the Six Rivers National Forest on July 24th. This fire organization continues to monitor the fire area for any heat that remains in the interior, while completing suppression repair activities, mop up and rehab measures.

The Big Rock river access site is now opened to the public and rafters can now launch from this site.

Periodic updates regarding suppression repair activities, rehab and closure status for trails near the fire area can still be found at www.inciweb.org/incident/1716/.

Information inquiries can be made at the Lower-Trinity Ranger Station by calling: 530-629-2118.
