Backbone Fire Area CLOSURE

ORDER NO. 10-09-02 (see map at "images" section)

SIX RIVERS NATIONAL FOREST

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Six Rivers National Forest. This Order is effective from July 16, 2009, until the Backbone Fire is fully suppressed.

1. Going into or being upon National Forest System lands within the Backbone Fire Area Closure. The Area Closure boundary begins at the intersection of Forest Road No. 8N03 and Horse Linto Creek, then continues north along Forest Road No. 8N03 to its intersection with the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation Boundary, then continues east and northwest along the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation Boundary to its intersection with Forest Road No. 8N01, then continues northeast along Forest Road No. 8N01 to its intersection with Forest Road No. 10N02, then continues north along Forest Road No. 10N02 to its intersection with the Trinity Alps Wilderness Boundary, then continues westerly along the Trinity Alps Wilderness Boundary to its intersection with the Klamath National Forest Boundary, then continues south along the Klamath National Forest Boundary to its intersection with the Stasta-Trinity National Forest Boundary, then continues south along the the Shasta-Trinity National Forest Boundary until the Trinity Alps Wilderness Boundary diverges from the forest boundary, then continues along the Trinity Alps Wilderness Boundary to its intersection with Horse Linto Creek, and then follows Horse Linto Creek westerly to the starting point, as shown on the attached map. 36 CFR 261.52(e).

·2. Being on the following National Forest System roads listed below and shown on the attached map. 36 CFR 261.54(e).

·a. Forest Road No. 7N53, from its intersection with Forest Road No. 7N10, then continuing north to its termination point at Grizzly Camp Trailhead.

·b. Forest Road No. 10N01, from its intersection with Forest Road No. 10N10, then continuing southeast to its termination point.

·c. Forest Road No. 10N10, from its intersection with Forest Road No. 10N01, then continuing northeast and northerly to its termination point.

·3. Being on any National Forest System trail within the Backbone Fire Area Closure, as shown on the attached map. 36 CFR 261.55(a).

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

·1. Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.

·2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both. 16 USC 551 and

18 USC 3559, 3571, and 3581.
