The Monterey County Sheriff's Department has issued an EVACUATION WARNING, for Limekiln State Park and the New Camaldoli Hermitage. An Evacuation Warning is issued for areas where there is imminent threat to life and property. Persons receiving this notice should evacuate in accordance with the direction given them by sheriff's deputies on scene.

An EVACUATION WATCH, has been issued by the Monterey County Sheriff's Department for areas of Lucia and Lopez Point. An Evacuation Watch is issued for areas where a threat to life and property exists. Persons issued this notice are not required to evacuate, but should be prepared to evacuate, should an Evacuation Warning be issued.
Fire suppression resources (handcrews, engines and dozers) are currently engaged in preparing structures and will be deployed for structure protection, in the event the fire should reach them.
The fire was very active last night and spread north towards Twin Peak into the west fork of Limekiln Creek, testing contingency lines.
Air tankers and helicopters are making retardant and water drops to reduce the fire's intensity and slow its spread. Crews are working to construct direct fireline where possible. Firefighter and public safety remains the highest priority.
