Dunn Mountain News Release

Firefighters Brace for Windy Afternoon

Incident: Dunn Mountain Wildfire
Released: 8/27/2008

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning from noon until 9:00pm today for southcentral and southeast Montana, including the areas around the Dunn Mountain Fire. Forecasters expect low humidity and west winds 25-40mph with gusts to 50mph. These conditions will challenge firefighters as they continue efforts to corral the Dunn Mountain Fire, which jumped the fire lines after strong, erratic winds blew across the region Monday evening.

An Incident Management Team has been ordered to manage the blaze, and will arrive for an inbriefing tonight. Today, firefighters plan to utilize engines, dozers, and aircraft (as winds permit) to attempt to construct and reinforce firelines.

There are no evacuation orders in effect at this time. Approximately 80 personnel are currently working on the fire.
