Klamath River Closures Lifted and Dillon Creek Campground reopened

Yreka, CA (August 29, 2008)-Coon Creek, Dillon Creek, Blue Nose, Presidio Bar and Ti Bar River Access areas have been reopened for public use. Located along State Highway 96 between Happy Camp and Somes Bar, California, the five river access areas provide popular access for boating on the Klamath River. In addition, Dillon Creek Campground, located about 18 miles south of Happy Camp, California, has been reopened for public use. However drinking water is not currently available at the campground.

District Rangers are working closely with the National Incident Management Team, assigned to assist in managing the current wildfires on the Klamath National Forest, to determine if some additional closed roads, trails, and areas can be re-opened. Maps and copies of current closure orders are available at local Forest Service offices as well as the Klamath National Forest web site at http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/klamath.
