Cactus Closure

Cactus Fire Prompts Ohv Trail Closure

Incident: Cactus Wildfire
Released: 7/20/2008

For public safety reasons, fire officials have issued the closure of the Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) route that connects to the Whiskey Gulch Trailhead. The closure extends from the Whiskey Gulch trailhead to a point just north of Interstate 90. Users of the Pipestone OHV area will be unable to travel south under the Interstate to access the Whiskey Gulch Trailhead. The purpose of the closure is to provide for public health and safety due to the hazards associated with wildfire suppression and emergency operations related to the Cactus Fire.

The closure will go into effect today, July 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. and will remain in effect until officials deem the area to be safe for the public and remove the closure signs.

More information regarding the closure and its implementation can be obtained by contacting the Bureau of Land Management, Butte Field Office (406) 533-7600 or (406) 208-0934.
