Mandatory Evacuation of Big Bar North of Highway 2

The Trinity County Sheriff's department, in cooperation with the Iron-Alps Complex Incident Commander, has issued a Mandatory Evacuation Notice for residents of the Community of Big Bar north of Highway 299. Contact phone numbers below for further information and updates.

The Buckhorn Fire progressed to the top of the ridge above the community of Big Bar and has begun backing down up residences. Firefighters will be initiating defensive firing operations this morning and Highway 299 will be closed temporarily during this operation.

You are strongly encouraged to comply with this mandatory evacuation for both your safety and the safety of firefighters. If you choose to remain at your residence, you should be prepared to take action immediately if the fire approaches your property. Remain calm, think clearly, and act decisively.

Evacuation Routes: Highway 299 East and West away from Big Bar.
